Where and when did flower essences originate?

Although flowers have been used for healing for many centuries, flower essences in their modern form were first developed in the 1930s by an English physician, Dr. Edward Bach. Ingredients:

Borage (Borago officinalis), Star Thistle (Centauria solstitialis), Self-Heal (Prunella vulgaris), Love Lies Bleeding (Amaranthus caudaius), Chicory (Cichorium intybus), Bleeding Heart (Dicentra formosa), Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium), vegetable glycerin and purified water.

Recommended Use:

Take 10–15 drops under the tongue every 10–15 minutes or as needed until symptoms improve. Then decrease to every 1–2 hours, then to four times daily until symptoms are relieved. For children under 4, consult your health care professional. Avoid any contact with dropper to eliminate product contamination.
